Producing more food to feed the burgeoning population from shrinking land and less water, without eroding the ecological foundation, will be an uphill task.<br/><br/>The surest means to tide over this challenge is through environmentally sustainable farming meth ods, which are economically rewarding and intellectually stimulating. Given adequate policy sup port, the several million farming families can be expected to rise to the occasion to provide the food and nutrition security for the nation. They will thus demonstrate the resilience and stability of Indian agriculture. |
