520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The book is an attempt at making an appraisal of the procedural guarantees accorded to the accused under Indian and Soviet Legal systems. Considering the vastness of the area of criminal justice administration the book primarily focuses on the pre-trial stage rights of the accused. Admittedly, this work is unusual because it makes a comparative study of two dissimilar criminal justice systems the Indian criminal justice system which is a common law system and the Soviet criminal justice system which is of a non-common law origin.

The basic principles of the socialist concept of human rights as contained in the Soviet legal system would be particularly relevant to the Indian concept of human rights since India is also recognised as a "Socialist democratic republic". A comparison of the criminal juris prudential philosophy inherent in the socialist concept of human rights in both legal systems should enable readers to distinguish the direction of human rights strategy being followed in both criminal justice administrations.
