Summary, etc. Project fmancing is a vast area. The economic progress of our country is directly linked with the industrialization. India offers a great potential to exploit this area. The Government is keen to offer the major inputs by way of developed industrial estate, power, subsidies and above all the fmancial assistance for setting up industries right from tiny-sector to medium and large scale industries. For the purpose of canalizing this assistance there is a well-knit network of financial institutions both at a11- India level and state level. The present attempt is to acquaint the entrepreneurs, consultants and fmancial brokers with the vast area of project fmancing. An endeavour has been made to cover all possible areas of fmancing by describing the various kinds of assistance offered by these institutions for setting up the industries. Although it is not possible to include all the schemes in this kind of work yet I think at this point of time there is no standard book available on the subject which gives the information in
compact form at one place.
The book is divided into seven parts. The first part 'Referencer' is one of the major attractions of the book which gives at a glance the major policies and procedures of the financial institutions. The entire edifice of the project can be based on the information available in this 'Referencer'. Part II deals with the institutional network. Part III to Part vn deal with the arranging of loans and the equity components required for the project. Part III is one of the most important parts of the book and is presented to provide
a deep insight into the techniques of appraisal, disbursements and allied follow-up matter. The requirement of the funds for the rehabilitation is covered in Part VII. I feel that most of the authors have given a step- motherly treatment to 'State-level Institutions'. A detailed coverage is provided to the operations and the nature of assistance provided by these institutions.
