Summary, etc. The book is an outcome of the attempt to understand and analyse the transitional phase through which the tribal people are passing. It has focused on the tribal worker in a non traditional environment for them.
This is a study which explores the problem from various perspectives, as wide range of industrial employment. and working conditions are found in case of Bhil and Mina tribals working in the industries. These tribals of Southern Rajasthan are experiencing the forces of migration and mobility, and also moving to industrial centres of Udaipur to seek recruitment. The author has highlighted the mechanism and pattern of recruiment. The employment conditions of male and female tribal workers, their response to the industrial employment and the adjustments made under new situation are all taken care of in the discussion.
In view of the tribal workers' link with both the village and the industry, it is imperative to probe their social life, linkage with the village and commitment to the industry. Be sides discussing these issues, the book also explains the problems faced by them as well as their aspirations in their new and non-traditional setting.
In addition, the transition of tribals into industry as a new phenomenon and their adjustment in new setting have been critically examined by relating the data with the hypotheses of the study. It is hoped that this will give new dimension to the tribal studies and may also be helpful to the planners and administrators engaged in the tribal development.
