Summary, etc. The present monograph represents an example of integrated approach to the problems of rational utilization of main production resources in agriculture. It is an inter-disciplinary study of several agro-disciplines such as economics, agronomy, mathematics, physiology, animal nutrition and others.

Considering the main beef production systems and tendencies in formation of feed balances in developed market economies, author analyses the dependence of animal meat productivity on the cattle feeding intensity, as well as the impact of later on efficiency of utilization of most limited production resources. The main attention is paid to the efficacy of utilization of arable land, concentrate feed and fuel energy. The study tries to prove that increasing concentrate feeding of cattle above the optimum level leads to decreasing efficiency of application. of main production resources and lowers the qualitative characteristics of beef according to present consumer's requirements of meat quality. Multi variant mathematical model of US beef cattle industry is used to determine the optimum level of concentrate application in cattle rations as well as to find out the optimum level of beef cattle productivity.

Part of the monograph is devoted to the description and economic appraisal of modern technologies for enhancing nutritive value and digestability of traditional and non-traditional forages from the point of expanding the feed base for cattle and other ruminants as well as replacing expensive concentrates. in their rations. The progressive systems of grazing management and rangeland improvement considered. are also.

The monograph is addressed mostly to agricultural economists. scientists working in animal feeding and nutrition, technologists and animal breeders. It would be useful for the students of agricultural specialities as well.
