He was a Bengali polymath, physicist, biologist, botanist, and archaeologist. Bose hailed from a Hindi family in Bengal, in British India. He is known famously for being the first person from the Indian subcontinent to get a US patent in 1904. He is also credited for the inception of the Bengali science fiction genre in literature.
