Summary, etc. Urbanisation and industrialisation are causing disturbance in the ecological balance and hence we are experiencing slow but steady deterioration in the quality of urban environment. In this perspective, urban environmental plan-. ning and management are the urgent need of the day and have become a major concern of geographers, plan ners and environmentalists.
