Summary, etc. In the present book, Dr. Sachindra Narayan, a noted anthropologist who carried out field studies during 1965 to 1985 in tribal Bihar, provides an informed glimpse on the origin of tribal movements in Bihar from 1772 onwards and a brilliant analysis of the Jharkhand and the Kolhon Movements of Modern India from 1948. onwards. Then author acquaints you with 'Jani Shikar' an exclusive festival of Oraons. How with the changing canvas of tribal Bihar, 'Jani Shikar' has also under gone the process of change and reached close to extinction and the need for careful planning and participation of all in reviving it so that the festival does not lose its original color He further enlightens us on the role of anthropologist in National Reconstruction and has critically analyzed the various tribal development programmes since 1950 onwards and identified the bottlenecks and concludes that failure to improve the lot of tribal is due to complex interplay of economic and political forces and many maladies in the ad ministrative machinery.
