| Summary, etc. | One of the formidable constraints on the growth of a developing economy is its vulnerability to the inflationary rise of wage and price. The problem becomes critical when productivity stagnates or moves at a slower pace. The issue of wage-price-productivity link is vital and complex. Such an issue in respect of the crucial sectors of our economy has immense significance. <br/>The present study makes a modest attempt to examine the wage-price- productivity link in mining, plantation and transport sectors of our economy for about 3 decades. It assesses the impact of the changes in wage, price and productivity of these sectors on (al the condition of the workers and (b) economic performance of the sectors. While bringing out the causal <br/>relationship, if any, between the changes in wages and problems and prospects of the Industries as reflected through wage, profit, and employment over a period. <br/>The study is comprehensive, statistical and analytical. Based in the findings and analysis, the study offers some <br/>suggestions for healthy relationship between wage, price and productivity in the concerned sectors. <br/><br/> |
