Summary, etc. In the present-day world it is becoming increasingly clear that pursuing their objectives of self-interest, arms manufacturers have succeeded in aggravating international relations bringing reactionary regimes to power and instigating wars. We know how German armament manufacturers, Krupp, Flick and others, helped the Nazis to come to power and prepare for the Second-War. Today for the sake of increasing their profits and consolidating their position, military-industrial complexes are doing their utmost to hamper etente and in tensify arms race and militarise the economy. Opponents of disarmament swear by the myth that military expenses stim ulate development and offset unemploy ment and economic crises. They do this to prove that with military expenditure and could ensure "eternal prosperity" and "high employment". But their assertions have been convincingly proved ground less. An objective analysis of the existing realities in Western countries has shown how deep is the relationship between dis armament and development for all the countries, including the American people. It was this realisation that led to the UN conference on this vital issue, as also to the Delhi Round Table discussion where experts and specialists participated. This book contains their candid views, analytically presented, to enable the readers to understand the relation ship between disarmament and development more objectively and penetratingly.
