This book exan nes the extent of the U.S.S.R's involvement in Africa today, and the impact of Africa on the Soviet mind. It describes Soviet efforts to keep ideology in step with policy, and policy in step with the aspirations of the new states. It also assesses Soviet achievements in African studies. A map shows the current extent of Soviet relationships with African countries, and an appendix gives the Soviet view of political forces in each country.<br/><br/>David Morison is editor of the Mizan Newsletter, a monthly review Soviet writing on Africa and the Middle East, which is published by the Central Asian Research Centre in association with St. Antony's Colleg Oxford.<br/><br/>This book is published under the joint auspices of the Institute of Race Relations and the Central Asian Research Centre. |
