Summary, etc. MULTILEVEL PLANNING IN INDIA: PROCESSES AND PERCEPTIONS is a volume containing a study of Planning with a specific focus on the considered practices and perceptions with regard to multilevel planning as a whole in India. It also contains an over view of the theory and practice of multilevel planning with special reference to India and lists a number of emerging issues in regard to multilevel planning in general and decentralised planning at Sub-state levels in particular. The volume is conveniently divided into three parts, namely: Approaches and Institutions; Resource Analysis; Sectoral and Spatial Planning.

The Part on Approaches and Institutions covers an over view of the perceptions of the different States on the Seventh Five-Year Plan; Union State Relations and the Process of Planning; Machinery for Planning; Formulation, Monitoring, Review and Analysis etc.
The Part on Resource Analysis includes devolution from Centre to States, from State to Local bodies, institutional finances and man power resources.
The Part on Sectoral and Spatial Planning covers various sectors and includes Plan implementation, disaster management and spatial frame work.
Though the volume is a study of Planning in Andhra Pradesh, the issues raised and the conclusions emerged are generally common to all States in India and elsewhere and therefore useful to all academicians and practioners on Planning as a whole.
