Summary, etc. | The present book deals with the
Muslim problem in India. The
author puts the whole problem in
perspective and traces its origin
in the postmutiny period in 1857
when the British rule was
consolidated in India. The author,
a noted authority on the subject,
believes in looking at the problem
in its totality and deals with its
historical, political and socio-
economic aspects and brings to
bear the weight of his scholarship.
The author is critical about the
role of Muslim leadership in the
post-Independence p riod which
has unabashedly exploited most
obscurantist issues for its own
interests. He discusses in depth
various problems being faced by
the Muslims today and suggests
that their socio-economic problems
should get precedence over their
psychological problems, though
they are not to be neglected.
He has done field study of a
number of communal riots and
discusses this problem in the light
of his field experience. The book
is must for Political Scientists,
Social workers interested in
minority problem, and contem-
porary world, Policy makers and
religious leadership. |
