Summary, etc. | The purpose of this book is to illustrate about biodiversity hotspots through interesting, informative and inspirational articles. The chapter on the water harvesting and restoration of biodiversity will be inspirational for those who attempt to reclaim the natural beauty.

Many people in our society are yet to accept that Wildlife is an important part in the maintenance of ecosystem balance. Knowing more about animals and their survival instincts will make anyone a wildlife lover. The book tries to address the human wildlife conflict. The inter-continental migration of birds and the Great migration of Serengeti in East Africa are very exciting subjects.

The reactive struggles happen when the ecological degradation affect the subsistence of local population. A few chapters discusses about the history of environmental degradation and the mass movement against misleading programs. The broad minded and educated leaders think about proactive measures. In the era of aggressive market economy, the proactive thinking is most essential..

The publication of the book titled "Silent Spring" by author Rachel Carson in 1962 exemplifies the role of a book in changing the state policies. The book had played a greater role in the birth of modern environmentalism and the eventual banning of the most powerful pesticide the world had ever known, DDT. During World War II this was used by the U.S. troops to clear the malaria-causing insects in South Pacific islands. Its inventor was awarded the Nobel Prize. DDT became available for civilian use in 1945. |
