Summary, etc. Good Governance, Globalization and Civil Society tries to analyze the three conceptualizations in the backdrop of Indian political scenario via- -vis emerging global order. Of course, the conceptualizations may have been theorized in the western context, yet they have essence and far-reaching consequences beyond the borders of the continents and as such a stupendous task has been undertaken in this volume to define, examine and refine the conceptualizations, its implications for the developing countries, particularly India, and the challenges forthcoming in the 21st century. Governance is a paradigm denoting something more than government. In fact, governance has become a fashionable way of talking about reform in government and its relations with the society. Good governance can be said to be equivalent to purposive and development-oriented governance with organizational effectiveness and commitment to improving the quality of life of the people in a transparent, participatory, just and equitable manner. Globalization is a multifaceted concept and therefore it has been discussed in the distinctive forms of political, economic, social and cultural aspects. The book also focuses on civil society which belongs to the tradition of political modernity founded on individualism and defence of human rights.
