Summary, etc. This book titled "Global Sourcebook on Human Rights" is probably the only book of its kind in the sense that it provides a serious thematic listing of human rights instruments, both global and Indian, on a given subject. Besides this, all other information, a reader would probably need, while grasping the subject area of human rights, is dealt in detail.<br/><br/>The need for such a sourcebook was being felt for long. The aim behind compiling such a book was the fact that the subject of human right till today was generally covered on compartments. This book reflects on maximizing the knowledge base of a reader while creating understanding of the subject through original texts and related illustrations. The whole design of the book is such that knowledge of Indian covenants to international human rights instruments and vice-versa, become obviously self-explanatory. The book is user friendly as it contains an elaborate text on abbreviations, glossary and references. Most of the contemporary global themes of human rights is covered in this book, with simultaneous focus on India. The book also provides a status report on India's position in the field of human rights.<br/><br/>This book is thought to be as useful for the beginners, as well as for those readers who have understood the subject of human rights much better. The fact that now in India, human rights studies have picked up, the utility of such a book can be unquestionably desirable in near future. Before conceiving the idea of compiling such a book, it was thought that if one single book could serve the reader best in this regard, it would be a book like this. This book may a considered as a reference book which could be of use to the reader at any level of academic attainment or activism in the subject area of human rights.
