Summary, etc. Scheduled castes have been remained<br/>and Socially, economically<br/>educationally backward since the<br/>beginning of caste stratification of<br/>Indian Society. The main thrust of the<br/>present study is to analyse the various<br/>changing patterns of stratification<br/>among Scheduled castes in Udaipur<br/>city of Rajasthan. The position of the<br/>scheduled caste has a bearing on the<br/>social structure of the 'Caste Society'<br/>that is, division of Hindu Society into<br/>caste groups. At the top of the caste<br/>hierarchy are the Brahmins and at the<br/>bottom<br/>the untouchables.<br/>However, some castes within the<br/>scheduled castes who have derived<br/>considerable benefits from<br/>constitutional provisions have<br/>are the attained an elite status among the<br/>scheduled castes have created social<br/>classes among them. In the present<br/>inquiry, the field work was carried in<br/>20 colonies of Udaipur city where the<br/>scheduled castes are residing in low<br/>and high concentration of population.<br/>The analysis presented in the book<br/>can be of interest to researchers, social<br/>workers and policy makers.
