| Summary, etc. | In 1974 the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations issued a report entitled The Impact of Multinational Corporations on Development and on International Relations, in which the majority of a group of 'eminent persons' reached the conclusion that multinational corporations and developing countries' interests were fundamentally opposed, while a minority held that in most essential respects they converged. This constituted the starting-point for a group of academics in Geneva to organise a conference on 'Multinational Enterprise in a Hostile World' to which a number of academics, businessmen and international civil servants were invited.<br/>This book is composed of the six main papers which were presented at the conference, the twelve papers offered by the discussants, a general summary of the conference proceedings, and a general introductory essay on the theme of the conference by the editors. |
