| Summary, etc. | This collection of addresses and essays by, and excerpts from the judicial opinions of, Mr. Justice K. K. Mathew is the first work of its kind in Indian legal literature. One hopes that it is the precursor of similar literary ventures in the future, for India is well-endowed with exceptionally able judges who have enriched the heritage of juristic thought. The book owes its existence to the creative initiative of Surendra Malik, the Editor of Supreme Court Cases. Law publishers in India are generally content to follow, rather than lead, consumer preferences. While this is an aspect of the global malaise affecting law publishers everywhere, the situation in India is aggravated by the fact that authors of law books have themselves a stereotyped conception of consumers of their work and singularly innovative images of legal writing. When Surendra Malik approached me with a request <br/>to assist him in the venture, I responded enthusiastically. |
