Summary, etc. | This book gives these basic principles, concepts and theories. It also describes how and to what extent these are being applied at present or may be applied in future to Indian conditions and environment.<br/><br/>The book is divided into three distinguishable parts. Part I deals with the principles and practice of Public Finance. Besides giving the theory of Public Expenditure and Sources of Revenue, it gives adequate coverage to financial structure in India. It gives in good detail the recommendations of different Committees and Commissions on taxes (direct and indirect) appointed by the Govern ment of India along with relevant commentaries. It is not only exhaustive in theory but also upto date in the application of theory to Indian conditions.<br/><br/>Part II covers the theory and practice of Budgetary & Fiscal Systems in different countries with particular reference to India. It gives the evolution of budgetary techniques, theories of the budgeting function and the constitutional provisions regarding procedure for budgetary grants. It also describes the mechanism of fiscal and monetary policies in a modern economic set up, with particular reference to Indian conditions. Again, the coverage is not only as per the syllabuses of the examinations but also it is uptodate. This Part also covers the main recommendations of the Seventh Finance Commission with necessary commentary.<br/><br/>Part III of the book deals with the role of banking in financial organisation and control. This Part gives an adequate coverage to the history of Central banking system in India along with the role of the Reserve Bank of India. It also describes the general functioning of commercial banks and their overall contribution to the financial and banking services to different sectors of the economy. The book covers the structure of money market in India and details the manner in which the Reserve Bank endeavours to accelerate the growth of the money market and corporate finance. |
