Planning in third World countries (some provocative thoughts)
Shaghil, M.
Planning in third World countries (some provocative thoughts) - New Delhi National Pub. 1980 - 135 p.
Professor Shaghil, a pacifist, believes that there is no alternative to a single world order, synthesising many civilizations, towards which we are apparently tending but the process needs hastening by the immediate undertaking of more positive measures before the sinister armament race blows up all prospects. He wants us to seriously ponder over "whether all of mother nature's global resources are not the heritage of all mankind (to be shared together) and not merely of those having their abode where these resources happen to be located (to be enjoyed exclusively)." He is also of the view that in national life, political democracy (adult suffrage) is meaningless unless it is accompanied by social and economic democracy. Other wise, the masses would not really be enjoying sovereign rights but would merely continue as slaves of a political system that keeps them in social and economic bondage.
