Free reserves and the money supply

Free reserves and the money supply - Chicago Univ. of Chicago Press 1962 - 118p.

This monograph is an excellent example. It deals with a highly special and technical problem in applied central banking: the connection between the actions of the Federal Reserve System and the behavior of the stock of money, with special reference to the role played by a particular intermediate magnitude, free reserves. This topic does not seem intimately connected with the pure theory of capital, a technical and difficult area in abstract economic theory which seeks to analyze the relations among the stock of capital, the flow of savings and investment, and the rate, or rates, of interest connecting them. If there be any connection, it would offhand seem to be that interest rates enter into both topics.
