Maritime security challenges : the changing scenario - New Delhi G.B. Books 2016. - 378 p.

The present volume is a collection of selected papers presented at the ICSSR sponsored two days national seminar on 'Maritime Security' organized by ARIDSS. It covers several key dimensions on maritime security challenges India face at present and the policy options to tackle these challenges. In the emerging scenario, the idea of maritime security assumes immense significance. From the Indian perspective, the issue of maritime security has gained prominence particularly after the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack and the threat it pose to the overall national security. India's maritime security challenges cover the entire range from low intensity conflict and piracy, all the way to major-power strategic contests and in particular to Chinese growing influence in the Indian Ocean. The main argument presented in this volume is to ensure maritime security and that stability holds the key to India's aspirations for a global power status in the 21st century.
