Abuzar, M.
Socio-economic aspects of population structures : case study of Uttar Pradesh, India - Jaipur Rawat Pub. 1988 - 178: ill.
Age as a demographic trait of population is intimately related to the problems of population. In India, a large amount of numerical information is available on age though it has not been optimally utilised. The main reason for the under-utilisation of this vast information is the absence of equally detailed information about vital statistics. This book attempts to present a surrogate of vital statistics in order to explain age composition in spatial perspective,
At an aggregate level, district-wise data for Uttar Pradesh heve been used for this volume; age structure has been treated as dependent variable and the socio-economic conditions as independent variables.
Micro-level studies carried out in a village and a town of Uttar Pradesh, supplement the findings of aggregate level study. Further, a twin-relation ship has been explored at individual level: Between age structure and vital statistics and between age structure and socio-economic conditions.
The present book is an intelligent quantitative analysis of population attributes. It brings out a balanced method of age analysis that can be applied to population studies in Geog raphy, Sociology and Demography.
