Populaton, poverty and hope

Populaton, poverty and hope - New Delhi Uppal publishing 1983 - 564p.

This volume relates to but is neither confined to nor congruent with the proceedings of a seminar organised by the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, and the Family Planning Foundation on the theme of poverty in India and different approaches to its eradication. The seminar was held in Pune in collaboration with the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management and the India Foundation for Development.
This volume contains all the theme papers which were presented and discussed at the seminar, and a few of them appear here as revised or amplified or otherwise modified in the light of the discussions at the seminar. But the volume also contains a few papers which were written for the seminar but could not be presented there either because they were received late or the authors could not attend the seminar.
The book also contains most of the case studies and other supporting documents which were circulated to the participants at the seminar. None of these studies and documents was formally presented there by the author, but each formed part of the matter under discussion when the theme paper most closely related to it was taken up.
