520 _aThis volume contains a collection of essays reflecting interdisciplinary perspectives on political violence. The original impetus for most of the papers came from a Conference on Political Micro-Violence held at the University of Texas at Austin in March 1971. We are indebted to the University of Texas for its financial support of this conference, and, in particular, we wish to express our appreciation to Dean John Silber and Provost Stanley Ross for their sincere interest and continued support. We are also grateful to the Hogg Foundation, and particularly to Direc- tor Wayne Holtzman, for the support the Foundation provided. It is all but impossible to express our debt of gratitude to Carl Leiden for contributions he has made to this series of essays. Professor Leiden was instrumental in conceiving of the conference and enlisting sources of support. Beyond this he provided substantive advice and constant en- couragement.
