520 _aThe South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) and South Asian Journal initiated a research programme for South Asian scholars to address the region's key policy issues, under the banner of the South Asian Policy Analysis (SAPANA) Network. SAPANA was established as an independent, non-partisan, region-wide virtual think-tank, and is expected to play a key role in shaping debate, analysis, and policy within South Asia. The programme's findings have been published as a 14-volume series titled South Asian Studies, supplemented by research published earlier in the South Asian Journal. Volume VI of the South Asian Studies series examines the problems of water resource management in South Asia, including policy approaches, resource sharing, and water quality issues.
