520			_aThe Constituent Assembly of India first met on the 9th December, 1946 and continued till 24th January, 1950. The Constitution of India was finally adopted on 26th November, 1949 and signed by the Members of the Assembly on 24th January, 1950. Thereafter the Constituent Assembly having accomplished the task of framing the Constitution assigned to it adjourned sine die and became functus officio. The Constituent Assembly Debates for the period December 9, 1946 to January 24, 1950 were printed in 1950. These comprised twelve volumes with an Index. The Debates were reprinted by the Lok Sabha Secretariat in 1966. The reprint was quickly sold out. The volumes of the Constituent Assembly Debates were out of print and as such not available for last several years. The demand for them, however continued. With a view to meeting the needs of Parliamentarians, research scholars, students of Constitutional Law, History and Political Science, lawyers and others, the debates are now being reprinted again. To make this new reprint more useful and easier to consult for reference purposes, a tabular statement showing the articles of the Constitution of India with corresponding clauses in the draft Constitution together with dates on which the respective articles were discussed and approved has been added. This would enable the readers to locate the debates on various articles with greater facility.
