The Founding Fathers of the Indian Republic had not simply waged a freedom struggle to rid India of foreign rule, but had launched a revolution - an all-pervading perest roika of the Indian society. It needs a new tribe of political workers. This is the great challenge before the Indian people, particularly its oppressed classes the peasants, the workers, the jobless youth, the scheduled castes and tribes, the women and the minorities. The book is an attempt to analyse the different facets of the failure of the Indian experiment. Such an analysis alone can unraval the foundations on which the new edifice of our society can be built.
