His ghazals often reflected a modern perspective and addressed contemporary issues. His work continues to inspire readers and audiences worldwide. Rahat Indori’s full name was Rahatullah Qureshi. He was born on January 1, 1950, in Indore. His father’s name was Rifatullah Qureshi, and his mother’s name was Maqbool-un-Nisa Begum. He earned a B.A. degree in Urdu from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, an M.A. in Urdu Literature from Awadh University, and a Ph.D. (on Urdu Mushaira) from M.P. Bhoj University. For 16 years, he served as a professor of Urdu literature at I.K. College, Devi Ahilya University, Indore. He was also the editor of the Urdu quarterly magazine Shaakhein for 10 years. Several researchers in Indian and Pakistani universities have completed their Ph.D. degrees on Dr. Rahat Indori's life and works. His ghazals are included in the Urdu curriculum for classes 9 and 11 of the Maharashtra State Board.
