| 520 | _aDhanpat Rai wrote under the pen name of Nawab Rai that subsequently changed to Premchand. He was born on 31st July, 1880, at a village called Lamhi, in Benaras. Having born in a middle-class family, he observed life deeply amid deprivation and inconveniences and dedicated his life to literature. He was honoured with various titles such as ‘a great novelist’, ‘story –writer’, and many more. He gave in to his prolonged illness and died on 8th October, 1936. This novel *Rangbhumi *emphasizes mainly upon the prevalence of deed and rights. A woman’s helplessness and plight has been revealed in this book. On one hand where rich ones being blinded by their powerful position exploit the poor, on the other hand, truth, dedication and non-violence strengthens a man who is being oppressed in society.
