520 _aThis book gives the history of Terrorism in India during 20 years from 1917 to 1937 as viewed from a Government desk. The cult of the revolver and bomb has played an important part in India's struggle for independence. As one contemporary pamphlet puts it, terrorism is not complete without revolution and revolution is not complete without terrorism. Terrorist methods in India were widely adopted by the youth as a means to focus world attention on the cause of Indian independence, to paralyse normal Government activities, and avenge the wrongs suffered by the people. Based on official records and written for the use of Government officers. this volume deals with terroristic activities in various states viz. Bengal, Panjab, U.P., Delhi, Assam, Bihar, Orissa, Bombay, Sind, Madras and lastly Central Provinces. While each state has been dealt with separately, this narrative of terrorism highlights the inter provincial aspect of the movement. The appendices contain valuable information about the conspiracy cases, the accused and select Terrorist Publications. Thus it presents a concise, readable and within its limits a reasonably complete picture of a most important aspect of Indian politics and administration.
