520 _aThe primary aim of the report is to understand the status of cash flow of Vidarbha farmers in the six districts of Vidarbha Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim, Wardha and Yavatmal - which have been affected by high incidences of farmer suicides. Cash flow patterns will provide an understanding of the underlying causes of farmer's distress, and therefore, help design appropriate intervention strategies which can bring sustained relief to farmers. The various parameters on which the data has been analysed are profile and demographics of the families, landholding patterns, cropping patterns, annual income and expenditure of households, food security and migration, and access to financial services. Data analysis by district also gives an opportunity for Chaitanya to bring out solutions which can be configured for each area differently. The entire data set has also been analysed according to castes to understand if caste is one of the determining factors in increased distress and vulnerability of some rural households.
