May be, the renewed interest is the result of the energy crisis, ecological disturbances, increasing tension and violence which surround us. May be, it is the disillusioment with the philosophies of Capitalism and Communisim which have utterly failed to give the quality of life, Man aspired for? Or else, it is the human predicament despite the plenty around which has led to a serious questioning of the goals of development. Even the economists who measured progress by such micro-ideas like the GNP, are conceding the fact that quality of life should be the proper yardstick of real economic prosperty, a quality which is an integrated measure of human happiness than mere addition to his material comforts ... The Cardinal principal of Gandhian philosophy is the integrated development of Man. Man is a part of Nature and, therefore, must seek his growth within the parameteres of the natural surroundings.
