520 | _aThere is continuous demand from the students of modern Indian political thought for original documents on the subject. Many volumes on the subject are available. The choice of the documents in each collection depends upon the editor. All the editors do not share the same view on the significance or lack of importance of each speech or writing by the nationalist leaders. Naturally, one volume is different from the other and each one has its own value. The same can be said of this compilation also. When once a decision is made to include the documents, they are generally given in full here. Of course, in very rare cases when - some speeches are very lengthy, they are abridged. Usually some extracts are deleted by some editors on the assumption that they are not relevant to the political thought. This assumption is based on the interpretation of the editor. Some students may have an entirely different interpretation. That is why no attempt is made here to select extracts from the various speeches, writings, memoranda and resolutions of political parties. | ||
