Books on farm management economics using Indian data are rare. As a teacher and researcher, I have been constantly reminded of this fact. This, in essence, is the reason this text has evolved.
The ideas on which the study is based are not entirely my own. They resulted from the teamwork of the staff in the departments of agricultural economics, agronomy, and animal sciences. G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, during 1966-73. Those who made notable contribution while the manuscript was in the initial stages are K.C. Sharma, J.S. Sharma Katar Singh, V.K. Shrma , R.N. Pandey, Dinkar Rao, V.C. Shukla, J.P. Mishra, T.K. Chowdhury, R.D. Singh, and L.R. Singh. Each of these individuals will undoubtedly recognize something of his own in the text.
