There are even some recent text-books pertaining to history of economic doctrines which hardly pay any attention to the valuable contributions made by many generations of historical economists who rightly put an emphasis on quali tative factors in economic life and stress the now vitally important fact that almost any economic activity is simulta neously a social action which may eventually have some serious political repercussions. Being ultimately multi-social scholars, quite a few historical economists even in the past correctly realized that the genetic (evolutionary) approach offers an invaluable scientific tool to the statesmen who want to avoid a revolutionary upheaval by giving some virtually inevitable social reforms from above.
