<br/><br/> The Wholesale Price Index reflects the movement of prices of commodities in trade and bulk transactions. The Office of the Economic Advisor in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and industry has been regularly compiling and publishing the WPI numbers since 1942. The Series of WPI has since been revised a number of times. The current series of WPI with base 1993-1994 covers 435 commodities comprising 1918 quotations. The Primary Articles accounts for a weightage of 22.02%.
