India faces an enormous energy challenge, with a large part of the one billion plus population without access to modern fuels, overall low income and consumption levels and the urgency of accelerating economic growth. In the wake of the implementation of major economic reforms and a new global order, TERI feels that the time has come for India to reorient its strategy of energy development. The new approach must integrate priorities for all relevant stakeholders and beneficiaries in meeting energy demands sustainably.
