<br/><br/> This book, Man and Society, is based upon an attempted integration of the social <br/>sciences. It is conceived as a program of basic studies, which is here interpreted as a <br/>building block or foundation course for the beginning college student. As such, it is <br/>not primarily concerned with "relevance," though relevance has been considered <br/>throughout. Nor is it directly aimed at producing good citizens in the popular sense <br/>of the word, though it is hoped that it may improve citizenship. Rather the aim has <br/>been to develop in the student some of the attitudes and techniques of the social <br/>scientist. <br/>
