This is recognized as a classic of Russian political economy, a text of prime importance for an understanding of the Russia of Peter the Great (1697-1725). Pososhkóv's treatise, completed in 1724, is a standard source. But the Russian edition of 1951 is out of print, its notes are inadequate, and its archaic Russian is a language hard to understand, even for native Russians. So this edition, in English, and equipped with Commentaries and a considerable Introduction, will be of great value to students of Russian & European history and those concerned with the history of economic and political ideas in modern times.
