‘Prominent Kayasthas’ compiled and edited by Dr. Swaraj Bahadur Saxena highlights the activities of those who have brought honour to Kayastha community so that future generations of the community can have, in brief and at one place, knowledge about the contributions and achievements made by their ancestors and take pride in it. It reveals that there is hardly any field in which Kayasthas have not excelled- be it establishing one’s own kingdom by throwing away the yoke of Mughal empire, participating in the struggle for freedom, holding top posts like President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Chief of Army staff of the country and Chief Ministers of states. Besides renowned litterateurs of Sanskrit, Hindi, Bangla and Marathi, Kayasthas also engaged in film production, direction, acting and singing and brought laurels to the community. Several scientific innovations are attributed to them and some of them achieved the distinction of being reputed historians, archaeologists and encyclopaedists. Book also explains in brief the origin of Kayasthas in North, East, West and South India and the surnames they are known by, in these regions. It also states the titles and honourifics bestowed on them and awards and prizes won by them besides marks of remembrances created to perpetuate their memories.
