This book is about the socio-economic and political traditions of the Kuki communities living in North East India and neighbouring countries - Chittagong Hills of Bangladesh and Chin Hills of Myanmar.It explained how and why the Kuki culture and traditional practices are revolving around the institution of chieftainship. It also deliberated and elaborates the position of Kuki chieftainship, his authority over land, natural resources and its people. Land ownership system practiced by selected Naga tribes is concisely discussed while it also deals significantly on the war waged by the Kuki chiefs against British imperialism in 1917-1919.
