Insurgency is very old but it has acquired immense importance during the twentieth century because of its successes against colon regimes. Vietnam, where a super power like USA, was forced to withdraw became a model of war of liberation. However, insurgency techniques can also serve as a weapon to subvert and weaken a target country without resorting to costly conventional warfare.
