Writing prior to the conclusion of the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea, the author analyses the various national claims to jurisdiction over offshore territory in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Persian Gulf, where most of the world's proven oil reserves are located. The book also considers the extent to which agreement has been reached on offshore boundaries and joint exploitation projects. The appendices include details of national legislation and international agreements, and a selected bibliography.
