This volume deals with various develop mental problems of modern India. Divided into five parts, the twenty four articles in the volume have been written by scholars who have specialized in their respective fields.
The first part entitled The Background" deals with very important topics pertaining to Planning, Development and Population. The second part entitled 'Agriculture and Rural Development' deals with problems connected with the primary sector of the Indian economy pertaining mainly to land reforms, irrigation, green revolution and agricultural labour. The third part entitled Economic and Social Infrastructure' deals with topics related to the basic requirements of socioeconomic development. Part four entitled 'Industrial Policy and Urban Development' deals with the industrial policy and patterns of urban settlement. The last part entitled 'Foreign Aid and Budget Performance' deals with external aid and budgetary management in the context of economic planning and development in India.
