Study of the soviet constitution
- Delhi Pragati Publications 1984
- 135 p.
There is no dearth of books and arti cles on the present and previous Soviet constitutions, but none of them deal adequately with basic questions. Most of them concentrate mainly on superficial aspects and features and try to compare the Soviet constitution with those of advanced capitalist countries, forgetting that they pertain to two different socio economic formations. The present study has tried to keep itself away from this kind of a pitfall. It is an attempt in a different direction, ie, to bring out the role of the Soviet constitution as an important element or consituent of the superstructure, sustaining and helping the development of the existing socio-econo mic formation, and how in this process it has itself undergone changes.
The book has traced the Soviet cons titutional development since the October Revolution and has dealt with the novel features of the present constitution, the economic system of the USSR, economic rights and duties of citizens, economic relations betweeen the federation and its constituents, and economic aspects of the foreign policy. The full text of the soviet constitution is also given for ready reference.
