International Organization for Migration

Migration development and poverty reduction in Asia - New Delhi Academic Foundation 2008 - 276p.

Identifies more effective ways to enhance the benefits of internal migration for poverty reduction and development, and how this could be complemented by strategies to ensure that migrants have decent working conditions and access to health and social services.

This publication has benefited from the cooperation of many people from within IOM and out side. It would not have been possible to organize the Lanzhou conference without the support and considerable assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, particularly Senior Officials CHEN Weixiong, REN Yisheng, WANG Chuan and their colleagues in the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, and the People's Govern ment of Gansu Province of China. The generous financial support of the UK Government's Department for International Development is gratefully acknowledged. Special thanks are due to DFID's staff in Beijing, in particular, Mr Adrian Davis and Ms Jillian Popkins.
