Sethuraman, T. V.

Institutional financing of economic development in India - Delhi Vikas Pub. 1970 - 166 p.

The study purports to enquire into the working of the various agencies set up to assist industries, focussing attention State-owned corporations. Sugges tions for implementation to the existing machinery in the light of past perfor mance are indicated wherever feasible. As the coverage of the subject for study is rather vast, the approach had to be selective and restricted.

The problem of industrial finance may be seen in perspective if we consider how industrial investment has grown over the last decade or so. The keynote of a programme for more effective arrangements for industrial finance is their institutionalization. An attempt is made to assess progress made in this direction.

In the Foreword to the book, Shri S.L.N. Simha writes: "The subject of institutional financing of economic de velopment is a vast one and it is difficult to cover in a single volume all aspects of it. The literature on the subject is growing and readers should welcome this volume as a useful introduction to the subject. The book is comprehensive in scope and written with clarity. Dr. Sethuraman appears to have made good use of the large volume of material on the subject of institutional finance in India and abroad.
