<br/><br/> The book is an ingenious blend of a history of money and monetary institutions, with an analysis of money's changing role in the sum total of economic analysis and policy. I can think of no single book on this subject that would give so immediate and so penetrating an insight into a subject which is not only naturally difficult, but which has also been unnecessarily complicated by the<br/>"experts." That it is written with Professor Galbraith's usual wit and elegance does not need to be said. Parts of it are a sheer joy to read and are, in their vivacity and élan, highly reminiscent of certainly his most delightful book.
